Frequently asked questions
General questions below — each platform we connect to also has its own section, for the quirks specific to it.
General
Which versions of Outlook does it work with?
Outlook on the web and on the desktop, plus Outlook mobile on iOS and Android, where the pane opens full screen. Mobile exposes a smaller API, so the few options it does not support switch themselves off.
How does MailBridge connect to my CRM?
Each platform keeps its own sign-in — OAuth2, an access token or an API key depending on the CRM. A connection test tells you straight away whether it went through, and you can disconnect at any point, wiping the stored data if you want to.
What happens if an email is already archived?
MailBridge checks before archiving. If the email is already attached to a record, it offers to link that one rather than create a second copy — and reopening the email takes you back to the record it was filed under.
Can I archive to a custom module?
Yes. MailBridge reads your CRM schema, custom modules included, along with the relations between them. You choose which modules show up, in which order, and which ones can receive an email.
My CRM blocks calls from the browser. Now what?
That is a common restriction. MailBridge comes with a small desktop app that sits in your system tray and relays the calls from your own machine. It starts with your session and needs no server of its own.
Integration-specific
Sugar asks me to allow an API platform — what does that mean?
Sugar's REST API only accepts requests from platforms an administrator has explicitly allowed, under Admin > Configure API Platforms. That is Sugar's own security control, not something MailBridge adds — enabling it there is a one-time step before anyone on the team can sign in.
My Sugar login is federated through SSO — can I still use MailBridge?
Yes. The optional SSO module signs your team in through a Sugar session already open in the browser, with no username or password asked in the pane — install it and turn it on with the SSO checkbox on the login screen.
Why does MailBridge ask for a database name when I connect Odoo?
A single Odoo server can host several databases, so sign-in needs to know which one your company runs on — the same way you'd pick it on Odoo's own login screen. Your administrator can confirm the name if you are not sure.
